Black Lives Matter Statement
Career Development & Alumni Engagement (CDAE) stands with Black people and affirms that ALL BLACK LIVES MATTER, and we believe that it is our collective responsibility to reject anti-Blackness rhetoric and all forms of explicit and implicit racism in our society. This is both an internal and external process, where we have to challenge ourselves, our communities, and systematic racism to secure our collective co-liberation. With this in mind, we share this Racial Healing & Educational Resource Guide to help us along this movement towards social justice.
Provisional Land Acknowledgement
As we gather together virtually and in-person, we invite you all to take a moment to respectfully acknowledge the Chumash people (in Ventura County where our campus is located) and all the peoples upon whose unceded sacred lands we variously meet. At CSU Channel Islands, we honor the stewardship of the Chumash past, present, and future, with gratitude for the land itself, which holds the stories and songs of indigenous peoples. By offering this Land Acknowledgement, we affirm Indigenous sovereignty and will work to hold CSU Channel Islands more accountable to the needs of American Indian and Indigenous peoples.
